Using an innovative online collaboration, ECAN brought together doctors from around the U.S. to create a Guide for Patients about Reflux Disease, Barrett's Esophagus and Esophageal Cancer.  The Guide is designed to inform individuals who may not be aware that their symptoms may be a sign of reflux disease.

The hope is that more reflux sufferers will ask their doctors about their condition. The Guide provides the information necessary for patients who are concerned about their persistent symptoms to be effective advocates for their own health when they meet with their primary care physicians.

Supported with a grant from CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield, this project utilized an online collaboration tool from Qmarkets.net to involve more than 100 doctors nationwide.

The doctors weighed in on the facts and details critical for patients to understand. The information is presented in clearly understood language without confusing medical terms.

The free Guide is available for easy download at ECAN's website and limited numbers of printed brochures are available on request.

Physicians seeking to endorse the Guide can be listed on the ECAN website by filling out a short form and stating their endorsement of the Guide.
